Authentic Style Corn Tortilla Recipe
One of my favorite things to eating this world is a taco. There is nothing like a meat and cheese concoction wrapped into a tortilla with a fresh salsa and cheese on top. C’mon! You’re probably thinking of your favorite taco as your reading this now.
Your filling could be of Spanish, Mexican, Asian or Hawaiian style. These corn tortillas are an amazing vessel for any type of taco you are creating.
Once you try these, it will be one of those things friends and family will be asking – Are these homemade?!! You look them in the eyes and say – YEP!!
- 2 cups corn masa flour
- 2 tablespoons Crisco
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup plus 2 tbsp. water
- Combine masa flour, crisco and salt. Add water to flour mixture until dough comes together to form a ball. Knead 1 minute or until dough is smooth and pliable.
- Separate masa into 9 balls.
- Next cut a large freezer zip lock bag on three sides. Cut off the top zipper part and both sides so you can easily cover masa in the tortilla press.
- Between your plastic bag, place a ball of your prepared masa, put the top piece of the plastic over and firmly press and hold for about 5-10 seconds.
